Spectra and SAFS *
During my collaboration with Spectra and their community lead, Ruby Lewis, in partnership with the Sandwell Asian Family Support Service (SAFS), I had the opportunity to further my research into nature disconnection and reconnection. To deepen this inquiry, we engaged participants in an immersive activity: using coloured transparent sheets, they constructed scenes of various natural environments—such as oceans and forests. These scenes were then projected onto a wall, and participants were invited to step into the projected artworks, physically becoming part of the image. This experiential approach was designed to convey that nature is not separate from us, but rather all around us and within us. The central aim was to foster a lived understanding that we cannot disentangle ourselves from nature, because we are nature.
